NoodleTools for Students: Share a Project with a Teacher

How to Share Your Project with a Teacher

Your teacher may ask you to share your project. This gives your teacher the ability to look at your work and send you helpful feedback. On your assignment sheet, your teacher will tell you the inbox’s name to use when sharing your project.

1. On the Projects screenClick the "Add" (plus sign) icon in the "Sharing" column for the project.

2. In the panel that opens, click the Share button under "Share with an inbox."

3. Enter the inbox's name that your teacher provided to you. The inbox name will auto-complete as you begin to type so that you can select it from the list. Fill in your name if necessary, to allow your teacher to identify who you are (the field may be auto-filled from your user profile).

4. If you have a paper to share with the teacher, check the box "Share paper"
5. Click Done. Sample below, the project is now shared with the inbox "Environmental Activism," and the paper is also shared with the inbox.

If the teacher cannot see your paper, click "Reshare" to re-link the paper with the inbox.

On the Projects screen, the panel updates with information about your shared project. Close the panel. An inbox icon appears in the "Sharing" column for the project. To edit the information, click on the inbox icon.

When a teacher or collaborator responds or leaves new comments for you, the Comments option in the blue panel on the left will display a number in red. The number indicates how many comment threads are in a "to-do" state (meaning that someone has written a comment that you haven't responded to or marked "done" yet). Note that if you are on the Projects screen, clicking "Comments" in the blue side-panel will first prompt you to select which project you want to view the comments for. If you have a particular project open already, clicking "Comments" from the Sources or Notecards screens will just open the comments panel right away.

Open any of the categories in the comments panel to view the new comments. If your teacher has made a comment about a particular source or notecard, click View source or View notecards under the comment and NoodleTools will display the item referred in the teacher’s comment.

Teacher comment

You can identify which teacher has left you a comment by looking at the ID preceding the comment (e.g. “mstandersen” in the above screenshot).

You can respond (as a comment or question to the teacher’s comment by typing in the Enter your comment box and send.
