Resolution

McDonald's restaurants are bad for humans and the environment.

Procedure

1. Introduction (1 minutes) - Moderator

  • Moderator’s Opening: Introduce the topic and explain the format.
  • Teams: Introduce the teams and their members.

2. Opening Statements (2 minutes each)  (Nominate 1 group member)

  • Pro Side: The team arguing in favor of the resolution gives their opening statement.
  • Con Side: The team arguing against the resolution gives their opening statement.

3. Rebuttals (3 minutes each)  (2 different group members)

  • Pro Side: Respond to the points made by the Con side.
  • Con Side: Respond to the points made by the Pro side.

4. Constructive Arguments (2 minutes each)  (2 other group members)

  • Pro Side: Present new arguments and evidence supporting their position.
  • Con Side: Present new arguments and evidence supporting their position.

5. Cross-Examination (3 minutes each)

  • Teams ask each other questions to clarify or challenge points made.

6. Closing Statements (1 minutes each)

  • Pro Side: Summarize key arguments and reinforce their position.
  • Con Side: Summarize key arguments and reinforce their position.

7. Audience Questions (Optional, 5 minutes)

  • Allow the audience to ask questions if time permits.

8. Judges’ Deliberation and Feedback (1 minute) - Moderator

  • Judges provide feedback on the debate and announce the winner.
